Employment visa is granted to a foreigner to take up an employment in India. Visa is granted for the duration of the employment or to a maximum period of two years whichever is less. Annual salary should not be less than USD 25000 per year. The employment will have to be subject to Income Tax as stipulated by the IT Act of India as applicable. Registration with Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is required within 14 days of arrival in India if the stay is more than 180 days. Employment Visa will be considered only if an Indian Company is authorized by the Government of India to employ foreign nationals and will be only to specialized positions. Employment visa will be accepted at this embassy only from citizens of Iceland. Non-Icelandic passport holders will have to apply for their visa from the Embassy of India in their country of origin.
Documents required
- Signed printout of the online filled application form. In case of Minors (Under 18 years of age) both parents must sign the Declaration part on visa application form
- Two photographs size 2'' x 2'' inch ( 51 x 51mm ) one uploaded with online application. Do not staple/pin the other photograph
- Original passport with minimum validity of 6 months and at least two blank pages on the passport
- Visa fees — Visa fee and Bank account information will be given after submission of application
- Proof of employment in the form of detailed employment contract giving detailed terms and conditions of the employment by the company/organization etc. in India, which should be signed by both the employer and the applicant
- Letter of offer of employment from the Indian company
- Documentary proof of educational qualifications and professional expertise
