The Embassy of India in Iceland, in association with the Indian Association in Iceland (IAI) celebrated ‘Diwali – the Festival of lights’ as part of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav at the Reykjavik City Hall today. The event was graced by Ms. Maria Mjoll Jonsdottir, Director General from Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, representatives from Icelandic Adoption Society, Indian diaspora & Friends of India.
At the event, India’s rich cultural heritage was displayed. The programme began with lighting of lamps & included interaction with Indian origin adopted children, launch of IAI website, bhajans, poetry, fashion show, folk/bollywood performances by ladies & children, skit & showcase of Indian cuisine.
The celebrations also comprised of performance on themes such as “India’s Freedom Movement”, “Unity in Diversity”, “Say No to Plastic”, etc. #Diwali #festivaloflights #AmritMahotsav
